About Carol and Dennis

About Carol:
Carol "Deck" grew up in Lacrosse, Wisconsin with three older sisters. Her Mother was an RN and Father was a superintendent for neighboring city, Onalaska.
Carol graduated from Central High School in 1981 and with further schooling received a BA in marketing Management. She spent her working years in Retail Management and as a Receptionist for an Orthodontic office. Most recently, Carol retired in June 2019 just shy of 22 years at Accounts Receivable Services (ARS) as a Client Service Representative.

About Dennis:
Dennis Derichs grew up in St. Joseph, Minnesota with one younger brother. Dennis’ Father worked for J.C Penny and his Mother worked for Honeywell. After high school Dennis served in Vietnam as a Cook and Supply Truck Driver. Dennis retired January 2019 after 40+ years of working in Various Machine shops in Minnesota.
About the Couple:
Dennis and Carol met at a wedding in Eau Claire, Wisconsin in 1983. Dennis knew the groom and Carol knew the bride. Dennis pursued Carol in Lacrosse and one of their coffee dates, they drank 11 pots of coffee at the Country Kitchen and talked for hours.
Carol only being 20 years old at the time asked Dennis “What do you want to do when you retired?” Dennis answered correctly and said “I guess I want to travel!” Carol had goals you know!
Well her other goals were to “grow up” and get out on her own and was not interested in a relationship at that time. So Carol decided to move out to the San Francisco Bay Area to live with one of her sisters to see if she would like it there.
With $100 and a credit card off she went! Carol had only traveled by herself about 200 miles so it was quite the experience to go 2000+ miles! Carol did have an older gentlemen ride with her… but that was a whole different story! Because it was such an event she wrote a letter of her experiences and xeroxed them and sent them to her family and friends and one to Dennis stating “Too bad I didn’t choose the Twin Cities! Have a good life!” Well… Dennis having her new address wrote and visited Carol about 10 months after her move. Sparks Flew… and Dennis asked if he moved out to San Francisco would he have the chance to date her…
and THE REST IS HISTORY!

Engaged within 3 months and engaged for 3 years.
They moved back to MN and married in 1988. Sooooo here we are today. We retired, sold the house, and stored a few things. Our goal is to travel for 3-5 years in the 5th wheel to see the “highlights” of each state. Seeking a new location to live in our golden years.
